China has successfully launched its high-resolution optical Earth observation satellite, named “Gaofin-12 04,” into space. The satellite was launched from the Xichang Satellite Launch Center in the country’s northwest using the Long March 4B carrier rocket. Gaofin-12 04 has successfully reached its intended orbit, marking the 483rd successful mission conducted using the Long March rockets.

China has achieved another milestone in its space endeavors with the successful launch of the high-resolution optical Earth observation satellite, “Gaofin-12 04.” The satellite was launched from the Xichang Satellite Launch Center in the country’s northwest, lifted into space by the Long March 4B carrier rocket. This launch signifies China’s continued advancements in satellite technology and its growing capabilities in space exploration.

According to reports from Xinhua agency, the satellite has successfully reached its planned orbit after the launch. The Long March 4B rocket’s success in placing Gaofin-12 04 into its designated orbit marks the 483rd successful mission for the Long March series of rockets, underscoring China’s experience and expertise in launch operations.

The Gaofin-12 04 satellite serves a variety of purposes, particularly in the fields of land surveying, urban planning, road network design, crop yield estimation, environmental management, disaster monitoring, and prevention. With its high-resolution optical capabilities, the satellite is expected to contribute significantly to data collection and analysis in these domains.

China’s Gaofin series of satellites, aimed at providing clearer and more detailed Earth observations from space, originated in 2010 with the production of the first satellite, Gaofin-1. The inaugural Gaofin-1 satellite was launched into space in 2013. The term “Gaofin” translates to “high resolution” in Chinese, reflecting the satellites’ advanced imaging capabilities.

Notably, the Gaofin series has seen continuous development, with a total of 33 active Gaofin satellites currently in operation. These satellites play a crucial role in advancing China’s understanding of its own environment and contributing to various fields such as agriculture, urban planning, disaster response, and environmental protection.

China’s successful launch of Gaofin-12 04 showcases its dedication to space exploration and technology advancement, further cementing the country’s position in the global space community.
